Take Action to Unscramble Your Numbers
There is much to admire in Unscramble Your Numbers. I admire how the writer has introduced Cakes, Cakes, Cakes as a company with a “number of serious challenges” and an owner with a “minimal understanding of the figures,” and then proceeded to lead the reader through the company’s accounting history and subsequent reorganization. I think the decision to focus primarily on one particular troubled company makes the book easier for the writer’s targeted reader (someone who is having a lot of trouble with the bookkeeping for his or her business) to follow and appreciate. I think the writer’s decision to include color in the book, although it must have added to the cost of the printing, was wise, as the person who needs some of the information in the book—such as that it is a problem if your largest client is consistently 90 days late in making payments—will likely benefit from the clarity that color adds.
